Hello! My name is Stacey and I am a mama of three kids in the Sierra Nevada Mountains in Northern California. When I’m not busy running here and there with my kids, or working as a history teacher, you can find me in my garden and kitchen, hanging with family and friends, and traveling the globe! I don’t claim to be an expert by any means, but I’ve learned a thing or two as a mama, a gardener, a cook, and a traveler so I created this site with the hopes that I could pass along some tips, tricks, recipes, and overall just create a place for like-minded community.

I call myself the Marigold Mama because for one, marigolds in my garden bring me happiness, with their bright colors and fragrant smell. Secondly, I love the versatility of marigolds-they can be grown as a phenomenal companion plant, as well as used in cooking and other household products. Marigolds can also be found in many regions across the globe. And finally, marigolds have long been associated with the Virgin Mary and legend has it that Mary used marigolds as money and so early Christians put the marigold flowers at the feet of her statues as on offering. As a woman of faith who has developed a deep love of Mary, I find this added connection to marigolds to be comforting when I glance across my yard at the numerous marigolds I grow each year. It’s clear marigolds are an important and versatile flower whether you are a gardener, cook, traveler, or person of faith, and I happen to be all of those, so the name just fits!
